Le décaméron…
The Décaméron is a book by Giovanni Boccace, depicting amorous relationships in 14th century Italy. As a school assignment I was asked to create a collector edition. My idea was to modernize this ancient novel, by using a peculiar type and abstract iconograhy I created with a 60’s analog camera.
All the illustrations are created with a zoom on black & white analog photos, then converted into bitmap which allows me to play with opacity. I choose to place every photo on a red background, red is the color of love passion and blood, three things very much present in the book.
